Making Things Happen in 2013

Oh sweet friends, if only I could express to you how excited I am about 2013. I’ve claimed it as my own. Over the last 24 hours, I’ve evaluated what did and didn’t work in our life and business. I put pen to paper and got real with myself. It wasn’t easy seeing my mistakes and failures in black and white, but oh, so necessary. I’ve been following my friend Lara Casey’s series on goal setting and it’s kicking me in the pants. I’ve also been journaling along with Gina Zeidler’s Instagram challenge of reflection and review. So good.

Blogging about my goals at the beginning of each month was great, but often times, I forgot about them. I’d like to try something different this year, and invite you to join along. If you’re a visual person, like me, then you likely need daily reminders to help you live the life you desire. I’ve created a Pinterest board to help me do just that. It’s full of things that inspire me visually, emotionally, mentally. This board is full of little and big things that I want to see/do more of in 2013. Instead of jumping onto Facebook every time I sit down at my computer, I plan to dive into Pinterest and take a quick peek at my Making Things Happen board as a reminder to do the things that fire me up. I’d love to have you join me in this! Leave a link to your very own Making Things Happen board in the comments section and let’s hold each other accountable!

Let’s be honest: last year was full of difficult decisions that are leading to huge changes for us in 2013. Huge. We’re excited to share these things as they come. For now, I’ll leave you with a short list of goals, of action statements for 2013

1. Live intentionally. Speak every word with intentions of love.
2. Make my family feel like the most treasured people in the world (because they are!)
3. Make our home & eventual new home a haven (more organization, meal planning, and tidiness).
4. Embrace the fact that I am a film photographer at heart, no more pretending I’m just dabbling in it.
5.  Adventure more.
6. Clearly identify and market to our ideal client.
7. Give God my fear of playing the piano in front of others, and grow as a worship leader.
8. Give my children and husband more of my time by setting strict office hours, and sticking to them.
9. Grow in my relationship with Jesus by going back to my small group and spending more time in the word.
10. Wait on the good Lord, and His perfect timing, regarding another baby.

Don’t forget to leave your link in the comments section. Let’s make things happen this year! Cheers, friends.

Love this Katie! You and I both will be waiting on God’s perfect timing for another baby. Being patient and trusting in God’s plan is so very hard for me.

  2. […] Last January I was pumped. I mean, 2013 was going to be the year that I just tore it up, so to speak. My house was going to be spotless, we were going to take spontaneous trips often, I was going to shoot my little heart out (with a camera, of course) and dig deeper into the Word than ever before. I had high hopes for last year… […]
