They say that God has 3 answers to your prayers: Yes, no, and not right now. This is the story of a “not right now”, that was answered after 5 years of praying and waiting.

I attended the Making Things happen Intensive in LA 5 years ago. Aden had just been diagnosed with Autism, and I was knee deep in bio-medical research/treatment, DR appointments, speech therapy, IEP’s, occupational therapy, in home behavioral therapy…you get the picture. The doctor told me she didn’t know if Aden would go to school, she didn’t know what his life would look like, and it shattered my heart. I was in the thick of growing a new business and growing a boy who needed his mommy more than ever. When I attended MTH, one of the last activities of the day was a visualization exercise. Lara had us lay on the floor, in the dark, with our eyes closed, and speak out loud where we saw ourselves in 5 years. I saw a picture of my life, clear as day, spoke it aloud, and this is what came out…

“It’s Friday evening. Aden is 9 years old and Ava is 8. Scott is meeting me at the studio as I’m locking up, and we are headed to dinner as a family. Aden is in school, he is OK. He can go to school. He is OK.” I cried on the floor in the dark, among strangers that would soon become the sweetest of friends.

This morning, I signed a lease on the most perfect and quaint little studio in Palm Springs. I’ve longed for and prayed for a little space to call my own for 5 years. I’ve been patient while the Lord said, “Not now, Katie, not now”. One day last week, an opportunity arose and my entire body just flew out of my chair to find my phone. This was it. The time is now and friends, my son is 9 years old. My son is 9 years old and he’s OK, and he’s in school. It’s difficult for him but he’s doing it! God gave me this beautiful vision and He is ever faithful. I’ve cried on and off all day…the tears just keep coming. If God is telling you “not right now”, please, stay faithful. Stay fervent in prayer and don’t give up your daydream.

I’m ever grateful to Studio Kate Floral for allowing me to partner with her in this creative space, and can’t wait to see what the future hold for both of us. Beautiful things are happening in our little corner of Palm Springs and we can’t wait to share more in the very near future. Much love to you, Kate!
