By now, you may have seen images of Britni Stein’s maternity session floating around Facebook. She is such a gorgeous pregnant girl! Britni is a fellow photographer, and I’ve had the privilege of photographing her multiple times now. When I work with her, she trusts me completely. She takes my direction, suggestions and she and Dave were open to anything. When I told Britni that I was planning to shoot half of her session in film, she just smiled and said, “Whatever you want!”. Love her.

She and her Hubby are about to welcoming their first baby, a sweet son into the world. Britni is wearing her grandmother’s nightgown in these beautiful portraits….such a lovely and meaningful detail.

And now, the film images from this session. I shot with Kodak Portra 160 and Fuji 400H. I think I may have a new favorite film! Digital images are clean and crisp, and tack sharp…I don’t always like that. There is a softness about film, a subtle progression between the highlights and shadows that digital can’t capture. Le sigh.
